Location: Glasgow
Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 (DOE)
A Senior Architectural Technologist and Project Runner is an employee who designs, manages, and runs projects from conception to post-delivery without supervision from a Director and will be expected to deal with a wide range of technical problems having responsibility for any or all of the listed Main Duties below.
Main Duties:
- Overall responsibility for project design and delivery through all RIBA work stages.
- Carry out feasibility & scoping visits and feedback findings to the Client.
- Designing to comply with legislative requirements for Building Regs (England), Building Regs (Scotland), CDM, Health and Safety and Planning.
- Contract Administration (preferably JCT forms of contracts).
- Prepare data and reports to timescales in a format required by clients.
- Production of design and construction information and documents, specifications, RFIs, finishes schedules, programme of works, CDM information packs, etc. through all RIBA work stages.
- Acting as Principal Designer under CDM 2015 Regulations.
- Managing several projects for several clients simultaneously.
- Work collaboratively with other internal service teams to provide an integrated approach to client delivery (Engineering & Cost Management teams).
- Manage project consultant teams, including Cost Managers, Design Teams, Structural Engineers, Geotech consultants etc.
- Review designs and make comments to pass back to the Design Team.
- Attend/chair client, project and site meetings throughout the RIBA work stages, including taking and issuing meeting minutes to agreed distribution lists
- Act as the main point of contact for all stakeholders (Client, Contractor, Design Team, etc.)
- Managing client relationships and service delivery on a project basis.
- Delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Assist Cost Management team with Tenders, Certificates of Payment & Final Accounts etc.
- Investigating and reporting on building problems of a technical nature, including analysis and diagnosis; and promulgating appropriate conclusions.
- Other duties within the general scope of the post and appropriate to the position may be required from time to time; changes of duties will be discussed with the individual.
- Implementing the Quality Management System in respect of project work under their control and for aspects of general management for which they will be responsible.
- Suggesting CPD events for the office and for Personal Professional Development.
This role will involve:
- Site visits
- Overnight stays
- Travelling outside the UK
- Driving long distance within the UK
The successful candidate will have:
- BSc (Hons) minimum in either Architectural Technology / Architecture
- Member of either CIAT / RIBA/ RICS / APM / CIOB
- 8 years (minimum) experience
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages including Microsoft Project.
- Experience with Petrol Filling Station/Forecourt projects desirable.
- Commercially aware, works well as part of a team and demonstrates people management skills to support and mentor where required.
- Great interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate effectively (both internally and with clients).
- Good organisational skills.
- Self-motivated as well as a good team player.
- Ability to make informed decisions and work unsupervised.
- Full UK driving licence.
